Default 1970 Camaro hidden partial VINs

where is the hidden VIN on the tail-light panel? on the subframe? I know there's one on the firewall behind the heater box...where else? Thank you in advance

The 70+ Camaros had ONE vin stamp on the firewall as youve mentioned. The 2nd Gen enthusiasts at www.nastyz28.com have never seen evidence of any other body/frame VIN stamping.

There is of course the VIN tag riveted into the dash area

The VIN's were also stamped on the Z-28 and 402 Blocks and Transmissions.

My 70 Z has two on the firewall. One was near the heater core and the other at the lower part of the firewall near the tunnel on the passenger side.

That's not true. I recall seeing posts about the subframe VIN on NastyZ28.com. I then looked at my subframe to see if I could find one and I did. Unless I was dreaming it. I'll take a look when I get home.

A member here had a very low mileage 70 Z that had a picture of the front sub frame with the VIN number stamped on it. The stamp was facing the outside underneath the drivers door. I looked on mine (not very carefully mind you) and could not find any stamp on the front subframe.

It was Kenny Pascoe's 3500 mile Z that I saw the VIN stamped on the front subframe.

Isn't that the low mile Z in the for sale section that's on ebay right now?

Chuck you are 100% correct. That was the picture and thread I was thinking of. My apologies.. Here is mine somewhat faint at the beginning of the stamp.

3 - March
10 - Day
70 - Year
N - Are we certain that's Norwood? My car is LA...
2 - Shift

If the "N" stands for Norwood, what does "S" stand for? I have a 1970 Firebird subframe with a S instead of N on it.

Was not the 70 Firebird, built either at Norwood,OH or VanNuys(LA), CA ???????

Maybe you can ask at the Performance Years Pontiac web site (???)

Camaro frames should only have the (N)orwood or (L) Los Angeles designation...........
