Default 2002 ZL1 road test

i took the ZL1 out for s spin yesterday afternoon and followed a friend in a M3 convertible. with 600 plus HP we know they will run on the low end. i must say we had to let them breathe. i was the follower as we were headed to his house on hwy 77 north to mount airy, nc. the last i checked the speedo we were at 145 mph. i think a quick look at the tach in 6th gear was around 4400 rpms. it has 410 gears but with the 6 speed it was strolling! i had a ton of throttle left. i couldn't imagine this car with a 342 gear or lower ratio. i wouldn't hesitate to say it would run well into the high 100's. when i got out of the car i felt like i had taken a lap at the daytona 500. my adrenaline was pumping and heart racing. i haven't done that since college. man what a rush. BTW the car did not shake, shimmy, and was downright awesome. i've got the throttle open mode making me want to climb back into and do it again, boy was that fun!!!!! Kevin, that sounds awesome! Glad to hear you are actually driving and enjoying this LAND ROCKET! I just wish I could have seen you doing this, or next time let me know I would be more than glad and honored to make the short 1.5 hour drive to take a ride with you the 02 ZL-1! I was up at his place about 1 1/2 weeks ago on Wednesday and talked to Gary, he was finishing up some last minute details on the 70 B/M car so they could go to Super Chevy Atlanta. I really figured Randy would buy one the new ZL-1's but have never talked to him about them. I know that you got some awesome cars from him, the first time I got the tour of his cars a few years ago I stood in amazement that I was at the time standing beside 2 Yenko Novas at one time, I think at the time 7 were found and 4 restored(I could be wrong about that), it was just too cool. Its pretty neat to go to a local cruise night and see him come through in the Yellow Yenko Camaro, that thing really sounds good! The 70 440+6 Cuda you sold Junior is a awesome car too, that is one of the nicest Cudas I have ever seen! Later!

I have recently taken mine to triple digits, only 120 though. Like fly in the clouds, effortless. It has gotten to the point where I can't consider it a ZL1 SuperCar but a Camaro with a 427. It Screams DRIVE ME! I feel like an addict actual. If I'm not careful I might start getting addicted, and using it as a daily driver Insurance folks might not like that. Kevin, if you would have gotten stopped the other day in the ZL-1 by one of the Highway Patrols Z28's, that would have been kinda funny(not wishing you any bad luck), it would have a made for a priceless picture, for one of those black and silver Z28's sitting behind you on the side of the road and you trying to explain what you were doing!
