That is a cool story Ed. Man the good old days.....I wish that I was there! Man to think that you could have said that Dickie Harrell was your street race car tuner!

Wonder if any New York racers ever ran across this car?

Read this response by Dave Libby of this story that I posted on the Dick Harrell site.

BTW is Brooklyn Heavy still alive? It would be cool to sit and bench race with a guy like that!

Great Story . . . I am not sure that the street racing scene today at least here in Atlanta is completely like he said it was (back in the 80's). No one will tell you what they have and all they want to do is race for big bucks, like they have any . . . They are all cheatin, but then again, that is the sport of it. It is like a street fight, don't fight fair if you want to win. I had a bunch of people telling me to bring one of our Camaros to a hot street racin spot, but I never had the time or real interest in racing on the street. The track to me is more thrilling, but most of the street racing is in the talkin, between the guys setting it up.

I told my buddies that if those mustang idiots want a street race, then tell them that you have a friend that has a '68 Camaro that will take any of them on, but for titles of the cars . . . what the mustang guys didn't know is that my '68 Camaro that I was going to bring didn't have a title or VIN for that matter. We came close one night when I heard that the talkin got heavy and some bad ass Mustang guy wanted a chance at this supposedly bad '68 Camaro. One problem, was that this guy heard from a friend of his, that night, after he was talkin serious [censored] about kickin this Camaro's butt, that the Camaro they are bringin out was a full on drag Camaro Funny Car with 1000HP and runnin on Nitro.

I am not sure why those little Mustang brats were so afraid of my little '68 Camaro . . . maybe the parachute gave it away Oh well, maybe next summer we will go fishin again for a sucker that really wants to put his title where his mouth is. Again, like the story, bring the best [censored] you have and then some . . . Can you imagine the stories those kids would talk about if someone showed up at a street race with a full blown Nitro breathing Funny Car . . . There is one event we are going to go to though . . . seems the Mustang club invites the F-bodies to a Mustang event at the drags to see who has the baddest car. I think we will bring that '68 Camaro to there next event . . .
