To those who inquired and made offers I'd like to say many thanks......And to the others, and you know who you are

Good idea would be to post a price instead of trying to auction them here next time. This isn't E-Bay ! You came here just to try and sell something for whatever the market would bear. Not the best way to get acquainted wouldn't you say...

Thanks Bob.....another opinion that nobody asked for. I am new here and the sill plates for sale was my first post. I never expected that by posting an ad and not doing it in a way that met your approval that several of you would get your drawers bunched up in wad. As soon as it was brought to my attention that I needed to post a price I did and then that made several other people unhappy. It amazes me that you have guys here with $100,000 plus cars and they are taking shots at me for asking fair market value for some extremely rare parts. All I can say is if this is indicative of the way newbies get treated around here don't be suprised if you have a tough time getting new members. And by the way, even though I sold the sill plates from an ad on camaros.net I appreciated the opprtunity to post them here enough to make a donation to your cause.

Yes...you follow the rules and post a price...I even tried to calm the situation down and help him sell these things...I had a nasty e-mail from Dante offline but no big deal...this is the place to sell rare parts...and I get the feeling from his e-mail that he knows that...but play by the minimal rules

There's nothing wrong with asking whatever you want for a part or car. It might make people laugh, but that's just their personal reaction and they're welcome to it. A part is worth what someone is willing to pay. I could list my pair of matching dated crossram carbs for $10K and most people would break out laughing. But someone might need them as the last piece to their puzzle and be willing to pay close to that. But the bottom line is that you have to list contact information and a price. No reason for bashing online.

If Dan had offered them up for $15 instead of $1500, would he have gotten responses telling him that was not the market price? Or would folks have broken their arms to get him the money before he found out the "real value"?

Jeff,I agree, and that is exactly what i said in the first thread in regards to these...You can ask anything you want, and people can scoff at it, or they can pay. God knows I've taken flack for the prices I've sold things for AND for the amounts I've paid for things. Belair's point was just that it is required that a price be posted, Dante did that, and it should been left at that... If you don't like the price, don't buy em...simple as that. Dante, I never once said i have a problem with your asking price, not now and not before... i wouldn't give them away if they were mine either, but there is no reason for anyone to get into a big argument over the asking price of sill plates. Not on the selling OR the buying end.
