Re: NICKEY nova
Maybe I'm out of touch, but I don't get it. Grumpy Jenkins, one of 56, prototype - WTF is that about? And I thought Cliff Peck Chev was in Little Rock Arkansas. A 66 Chevy II L79 with a replacement engine is not that unusual. It does look like a nice car.

Re: NICKEY nova

Re: NICKEY nova
The Block in the car is dated 1969 so It couldn't have been installed when new, also the CE vin is standard, no one had to pay extra to have it stamped on the block and it doesn't designate anything special as far as I can see.
As far as the protecto plate and Based on my experience The reissues due to dealer transfer or trades did not usually have all the option data included like the originals. Looks like a cool car However |

Re: NICKEY nova
I flew to Buffalo to look this car over in person about 5 yrs ago. Seller was asking $23K but everything looked bogus to me.It didn't have the L79 engine, rear gears wrong & I believe the fuel line was wrong. Seller was less than forthcoming with documentation...never showed me a POP, just an old window sticker that anyone could have typed up he also told me that he put the NICKY decals on the deck lid & hood .It was however, a very nice '66 Chevy II. I just didn't think there was enough doc's to warrent a purchase.

Re: NICKEY nova
That is a cool Cliff Peck decal.I've always associated them as an Arkansas Dealership. Now Texas?
I know there was & still is a Bob Peck Chevrolet in Arlington Va.800 N. Glebe Zone 14-Dealer-305. |

Re: NICKEY nova
A few years back I had a n.o.s. Nova L-79 short block...date casting was 1969.It had it's own casting # for the block because of the recessed oil filter. So,GM offered a CE replacement for 66 L-79.

Re: NICKEY nova
This engine did not have a recessed oil filter. The widow sticker said it had air conditioning then, the air was apparently deleted. If air was a dealer add on...why would they take an air car & modify it for a race car when so many Chevy II's were avail. Another thing that seemed odd was that when you added the options to the price of the car the addition was wrong. Would a dealer do that?

Re: NICKEY nova
Newbie here......Very Interesting......First of all....I was one of the fortunate ones who had a brand new L-79 car (Marina Blue SS bought from Hoskins Chevrolet....right down the street from Nickey)....I grew up in Chicago and spent every Saturday nosing around the parts and service dept at Nickey watching what was going on........not that I am a know it all......but ....I think that this is just a nice Nova with some "Creative" history behind it......just my $.02
