If the guy has the original window sticker that documnents the car... boy that thing is going to get outrageous in the bidding.

I can't say it is not authentic. However, here are some things to think about.
1. He should post a copy of the window sticker.
2. Most ex drag cars are in much better condition. I would expect a car that was trailered from the dealership to get better care.
3. His father in law bought it new. Has it changed hands multiple times since?
4. Does father in law still have P.O.P?
5. Special paint would be the correct code for a late 68 if it was ordered black.
6. I didn't see a date code on the heads.
7. Should a 68 have the positraction decal on the deck lid, like a 69?

I am sure some of the other guys here will think of many other questions to ask.

Lynn

If anyone here picks it up, Ill take the extra set of RS Tail-light assemblies he has pictured with the standard ones. Also do I see the rear shocks right NOT staggered and 67 style instead??

This looks like a cut up drag car with a Dana 60, some parts, and possibly no documentation. I would be very careful since a 68 is next to impossible to verify without a P-O-P or Window Sticker and / or Owner History. You can check the dates on the block, heads, trans, etc to get some idea if the parts are original. I don't believe I have seen a documented L89 for sale as these are most likely privately traded among serious collectors. There are however, quite a few clones on the market.

I ASKED THE SELLER WHAT HAPPEN TO THE ORIG MOTOR AND REAR END HERE IS WHAT HE SAID
My wife believes the original engine was stolen. I think my father -in- law may have sold the rear-end many years ago. Definitely before 1984. - Tim.

I agree... if he has the sticker, he should post a scan.

Regarding the father-in-law and having the P.O.P., he says he's selling it for the estate..... might need an Ouija board to ask him about it (<---- no disrespect intended, just a weak attempt at humor).

For sure...if it was a drag car it wouldn't be a surprise to see the 12 bolt gone either....someone should look at the car if they are unterested....
