Guesstimates on future of musclecar market?

Should I buy now or buy later? Anyone have an educated guess on what the musclecar market will be like in...say...a year or 2? Here's why I ask: I want to buy a decent, complete 70 Chevelle SS (looking at spending between $20K-30K) I'm not quite prepared to spend that much money right now, but I could. I would be better prepared to buy in a year or 2 but would I be spending $1K...$3K...$5K more if I wait a couple years? What do you think?

Yes..in general,on a quality Vehicle,the longer you wait,the more the car & it's parts will cost you.
There was a pretty nice Documented frame off Cortez Silver 1970 Chevelle L-34 SS for sale here in Illinois last September.Frame off restored 10 years ago.
It sold for 26K & is still here.The new owner is sprucing it up & will probably sell it this summer for 8K more.

I don't see the muscle car market EVER coming down. As more and more of these baby boomers are making their mark in life they will manage to free up some cash and buy the car of their dreams. Where are they going to come from, there just is'nt enough cars out there to satisfy a never increasing market, so up goes the price on what there is out there. Also expect the lesser models to take off also as the big deals are just not going to be available, why would a guy want to part with his dream car for any money, a lot of these guys have money to burn so they won't sell at any price. Buy now or pay later. Also watch out for the increasing price of clones as yet again the real ones are just not available.

Definitely BUY NOW if you're looking for a documented car worth hanging onto. Good cars that seemed pricey only a few years ago seem like great deals now. No one ever sells a collector car for less than they paid either, so if you aren't buying the "right" Chevelle that's in your price range now, someone else is, and it won't be in your price range when the decide it's time to sell. JMHO.

Go here and just check out what they were going for just 4 years ago. Semms that they are going up about 15-25% a year.

I'm no expert, but as a long-term musclecar owner and enthusiast, it seems to me that the bar on price for these cars continues to get raised. And when the really "hot" stuff like Yenkos, COPOs and Hemis got expensive, more "pedestrian" muscle started to get more costly. Just go looking for a 350 model late 60's or early 70's GM A-body and you will see what I mean. These cars seem a lot like real estate. They may have their ups and downs, but for the most part the long term trend is UP. It's both good and bad for the hobby; good if you already own something as you are unlikely to lose you shirt on it, but bad if you are trying to get "in". Now stuff like late 70's Camaros and Firebirds are rising in price in response to the trends. Buy early and often, I say.
