Maaannnnn, that car so whips the camaro! Looks are true to it's roots as well. My 05 stang GT got it's butt whipped the other night at the track by a JEEP! Yep, a JEEP! It was a 07 Grand Cherokee SRT8. 4 Doors. Stock.

Maaannnnn, that car so whips the camaro! [/ QUOTE ] Rich, I wouldn't go so far as to say it whips the new Camaro. This Challenger looks awesome in its own right, but the new Camaro ain't no dog! I really think Dodge missed the mark by not exiting the tail pipes through the lower valance and not incorporating a real spoiler as was done oroginally. Just my .02 Nuch

I hope it does well in sales. It looks sharp, and is fairly true to it's roots. I won't mind looking at one while stuck in traffic, sure beats all the other look-a-like cars you typically see.

I have to admit, it's nice to see cars looking like they did
when we were young(er). It started with the colors a few years ago, now it's the body lines. I guess things do come full circle. ![]() Now, if we can only get go-go boots and mini skirts to come back into fashion.... we're golden! ![]() Steve

Maaannnnn, that car so whips the camaro! ![]() [/ QUOTE ] You might change your mind once you see both these cars in person. The Camaro has much better lines than the Dodge. And the Dodge is huge next to the Camaro - more of a B body than an E body. I don't think they will be competing for the same customer.

Announcing MSRP really doesn't mean much unless they make a bunch. Dealers are going to add fair market value adjustment invoices (like Cobra's) to push the cost out of reach for most buyers. Different market than the original Challengers. Hopefully the real price will level out after a few years when you can choose from Mustang, Camaro, and Challenger or whatever else is available.

OK, lets look at the cars.
New Mustang next to old mustang, check looks like the same DNA............ New Challenger, next to old Challenger, check, looks like the same DNA.............. New Camaro next to new Cadillac, check, looks like the same DNA! I'm not sayin the new camaro is ugly so much as I am saying that it does not stay true to the first (or second) gen camaros like the stang and challenger do. And lets face it, the SRT8 thing is catching on. I just had my butt whipped recently (2005 Stang) by a JEEP at the track! That's right, a 4 door Grand Cherokee STR8, just a few mods (cold air, exhaust and flash) ran 13.2's. Best I can get out the stang (which is stock) is 13.90's. Chevy currently does not have any performance models other than the Z06 vette. They keep placing the new camaro in ads next to a 69 camaro, and they look nothing alike, imho.

Rich,
You can say it's ugly as many times as you like, I doubt you will change anyone's opinion on it. By the way, I believe my TrailBlazer would kick your Mustang's butt as well. |
