Re: 1957 Corvette Vintage Race Car
This car has a very professional write up. The only fact they failed to mention is that this car was built into a race car by me, Randy Peterson, in about 1992.

Re: 1957 Corvette Vintage Race Car
I purchased this car in Oakland CA. It was missing the motor and transmission and was in fairly rough shape. It came with several tops, a couple windshield frames, and misc. parts which I sold to purchase the big brakes and fuel injection unit. The roll bar was made by filling it with sand and bending it with a torch.

Re: 1957 Corvette Vintage Race Car
Whoa, I just walk in from a day at B-J to see this!
Randy, thanks for your post. I am aware you restored the car to vintage race specs in the 90's. However, I also had photos of THIS car racing at Laguna Seca in the late 50's, provided by the guy who crewed for the car in period. It was wrecked road racing in the early 60's, and later sold to a guy in the SF Bay area who repaired it and drag raced it. Then it was stored for years, later dragged out and returned to road race specs by Randy. After that, Art Redford bought the car and further developed it to a state of the art vintage racer (if that isn't an oxy moron?) It is absolutely an original FI big brake car and absolutely has PERIOD race history. I'm sure all of us have either resurrected an old racer that was run into the ground, or know somebody who has. That is the story with this car. So, before this spirals out of control, let's hope this helps clear the air on this old warrior. It has had a few lives, and Randy did a commendable job returning it to its original road racing configuration - as advertised and represented by me to its new owner. Best regards, Colin |
