Re: 1964 Corvette Convertible Fuel Injected 375hp
Stefano:
Very cool car. Did you ever figure out what was up with the Engine Number on the owner's ID? F1204RF CE. Guessing RF was the code for the fuel injection with four speed??? I don't have a <span style="font-style: italic">Chevrolet by the Numbers </span>for early 60's. Did the fuelie cars get a four digit engine id code instead of 2? Just trying to learn a bit more about the earlier Corvette's. Sherri keeps thinking she needs a mid year Corvette after we get the Z and the tube frame car done... but that is a few years away.

Re: 1964 Corvette Convertible Fuel Injected 375hp
Yes, the two digit RF code is the 375hp FI, with what would appear to be the engine build date. Not 100% on the CE designation. Ran it by the local Corvette Guys and no concrete answer provided. Since the car does have a CE engine dated close to the build of the car, maybe it got put in before it was delivered to the original owner and thus the Warranty Booklet was stamped as such? |

Re: 1964 Corvette Convertible Fuel Injected 375hp
Guess I didn't read the description well enough. Didn't know it had a replacement engine.
That makes sense. Seems like they would have crossed out the original number and put in the full CE number. Although, the only CE blocks I have looked at were 69 and later. Guessing that in 64 they had some ID number on the block. I have one out in the garage. Seems like there are 5 or so digits after the CE designation. But then again, I am sure in that situation one would save the work order just in case the NEW engine failed. Did Chevy have 5 year warranty in 64 as in 69?

Re: 1964 Corvette Convertible Fuel Injected 375hp
This sounded like a great car, I had visited with Stefano on it recently and he was very helpful and honest. I was trying to get time together to look at it as Stefano said he really wanted me to look before purchasing, I appreciate that. I'm glad it sold, but wish now I had made time to fly to Chicago to look at this car.

Note: The original window sticker and warranty booklet have been lost, by the collector we had sold it to and are no longer with the Corvette. However, we do have hi-resolution color scans and the NCRS letter of authenticity for the original window sticker. Corvette eBay |

How did the paperwork get "lost"? I can never understand that.
