Interesting, NM motor, oops! Thanks for posting the dealer invoice.
I've always wondered on these Copo 4.56 rears, who installed the gear set? Having the BE stamp you would not expect Eaton or Norwood to have installed the 4.56 gear set. Was it up to the dealer to install the 4.56? |

There are two typos on the paperwork. The first is the NM instead of MN, and the rear is 0612 BE not 912 BE....BKH

This car is an M22
Leighton Chevrolet ordered two COPO Camaro, one blue, and the Burgundy Camaro. The Burgundy car was special ordered with the M22 and 4:56.1 rear and little else. Am radio console and rally wheels with pin stripe tires. The other was an M21 with 4:10.1. The blue car came in first and the Burgundy car lagged behind. Finally the customer grew tired of waiting, and took the blue car. Enter Norm Molten. Norm ordered a Burgundy L78 turbo 400 Nova. A call to Norm when the car arrives and Norm hurries to Leighton to see his new Nova. Trading in his 68 Hemi for the Nova. While waiting for the paperwork to get started, Norm walks about Leighton to discover a very curious looking Camaro also in Burgundy. He notices the special hood and the twin chrome pipes out back, but no emblems etc. So he pops the hood only the see the 427 staring back. Norm walks into the office and tells the salesman he is no longer interested in the Nova. The salesman asked whats the problem, the problem was the M22 4:56 427 Camaro. Long story short, Norm makes the deal on the COPO and leaves the Nova behind. That had to be a real cool site IMO. A Burgundy COPO and a Burgundy L78 Nova...BKH |
