Default Vacuum

A friend has a 69 302 Z. The engine is stock. He is currently getting 10 pounds of vacuum at about a grand idle. Does anyone know what the correct vacuum should be at idle?

Thanks in advance,
Bill

Good info Rob. I'll add it to my original shop manual collection even if it is Sun Electric info.

Best engine vacuum I can get on my 68 Z is 14" even after a stock rebuild. After exhaustive troubleshooting, no vacuum leaks turned up. I simply live with it. The power brakes and ralley sport headlight covers work just fine.

Would you happen to have one of those sheets for a 65 L78 Impala or Corvette?

Thanks,
Bill

Billy
You can pick up those sheets at any swapmeet.
They are plentiful around here.Usually 5-10.00 a sheet, depending on the show.
I am going to be at SuperChevy Indy next week, and that vendor will be there selling 100's of them.Let me know.
Rick

This is a little off topic but I notice the coil # listed on the sheet is the 293 coil which is the standard V8 coil for small & bigblock engines, except special high performance engines.
Z28 & high performance big blocks used high speed coils & I believe that '68 & '69 Z28's with flat hoods had 298 embossed coils in them. I can't recall what the '69 coil induction coil # was.
Can anyone confirm this for me?
What do COPO 427's have?

Thanks

Bill:

Sorry, don't go back that far...but there are some lose ones, so I'll check and see what I got.

Boy, $5-$10 a sheet? I got a BARGAIN then! I got ALL manufacturers/makes/models from '67(?) until '77, still in the original Sun add-on file cabinet, shipped from the Northwest for $130. Looks real good hanging on the side of our diagnostic machine!

Rick, Thanks for the offer. I will be heading to SC in Joliet. I will look for one there. Do you remember the sellers name?

Rob, thanks again for looking. If you come across one let me know.

Bill
