re: that heat riser. Here is what it looks like. It's part of the exhaust manifold it's not separate
![]() Some food for thought. The above is from a 46K mile 69 Supreme. heat riser valve is present. I have a 62K mile 69 S and there is no heat riser valve in the exhaust manifold. Best I can tell, both engines have their original exhaust manifolds and haven't been messed with, so heater riser or no heat riser. Your call. Another item to think about. Run the heat riser and break out the sawzall to cut out the butterfly.

I have collected 3 sets of manifolds and none have the heat riser built in..............
Hmm? I will look at the manuals to see what they recommend. Ryan

There is a bit of info in the Assembly Manual.
FIG 3: Here I can see the heat riser built in to the Drivers side EX manifold in the first picture on page 120. FIG 4: Also the block off plate is shown for the Passenger side EX manifold to block the cross over port. I can't think of a survivor 69 W31 to look at that has original exhaust....... Anybody? As far as I can tell the exhaust has no W31 specifics, so a Cutlass with an L74 High Compression 350/310HP would have the same N10 Dual Exhaust as a Cutlass with a W31 350/325HP? Ryan ![]() ![]()

At Martin I made plans to have Dan Jensen PSMCDR rebuild and test my carburetor. In future I hope to have all the surfaces restored but currently I plan to have a survivor/rebuilt W31 carb prepped.
This will really work out for me as Dan is building my distributor and now carburetor, so I can lean on him a little in future for tuning tips and tricks:-) (If in future I have a Quadra-bog he will know what to do, not just Google like me) I took a few pictures of it beforehand. If anyone can answer your questions, he would be the one.

I started researching what finishes to restore the trunk accessories. (How this ended up a priority I can not remember)
I do remember: I dropped off a few items to be coated with Dan Vasic when he has a batch of show car parts plated, I am hoping some chrome will drip off onto my driver parts:-) I chased a few W31 Olds owners to share pictures of their: Jack hook, shaft, base, mechanism, as well as spare tire hold down and wing nut. Decided on Dove Grey for painted parts to match these originals. This also matches the color of the rusty parts I bought. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
