Having worked at Hardin Olds, Honda and DeLorean...I got to see how poorly they were out together...they were worse than the 80's Olds as far as build quality....if you can believe it.Also it took forever to get parts! </div></div> Bruce, have you watched The Car Show with Adam Carolla? I think it's on SPEED. In any event, there was an episode where I think they raced a Nissan Altima or something against it and the DeLorean got crushed. It was slow as hell. Was amusing to watch. haha. |

I used to park cars at a few of the casinos here in Atlantic City and got to drive a few of these when new and they were slow as hell and handled like crap. Looked pretty cool, I must admit, but I think a Yugo would give it a run for it's money in a race.

I worked for a Steel Service Center in the eighties & nineties that’s main product line was stainless steel. The company owner had to have a DeLorean and I got to take it out and abuse it on many occasions.
It had a Peugeot / Renault engine that only put out about 130 hp, it handled well but performance wise was a real dog. My boss was a big (fat) guy and had quite a problem getting in and out. I had the opportunity to purchase it on lease’s end for a cheap price – but passed. What turned out to be a wise decision!

Glenn, you are lucky that your boss didn't get stuck in the car...one of the weak links was the door handles...they broke, effectively trapping the occupant in the car (since only a portion of the window rolled down)

I remember seeing over a hundred of them sitting in a distribution lot alongside Rt287 in the Sommerset area of NJ.
