Re: Edman Lis' 1963 Impala SS Convertible
Thanks for all of the compliments on my Impala. First, I am remiss in not mentioning my brother-in-law, Dennis Laughlin, who actually went in as a partner with me when I first bought the car and has performed the lion's share of cleaning and maintenance. Dennis is a long time CCI member and I call him the professor because he has forgotten more about these old Chevys than I will ever know.
Verne, I will send a photo of the cowl tag to Bruce and ask him to post it. So you know, it's an 04D build date. The pad is stamped T0418QC along with the VIN reference which is not gang stamped but individually stamped. I will send a photo as well. Lastly, I did not see the VIN on the trans but it does have a tag. I have the car kind of buried right now but as soon as I get it back out (when it quits snowing in Indiana in April) I will check it for you. Please feel free to PM me if you have any other questions as I really dig the archeology side of survivors. I have some more survivors and if Bruce allows me I'll send in another write-up or two. All original 1957 BelAir HT V8 with 46,000 one owner miles and every piece of paper that ever came with it and a 68 Firebird 400 4-Speed Posi car that is completely untouched with original belts, hoses, window sticker, build sheet, protecto-plate and California Black Plates (my favorite in case you couldn't tell). Thanks again everybody and let me know if you need any more information. Enjoy the Impala, Ed
