Suydam does have a 69 L89, I just peaked at his collection (haven't seen it in a while) absolutely unbelievable what he has amassed

Were they built in batches or here and there?

[/ QUOTE ]

From the research I have done, I would tend to believe most of the 311 L89s were built in batches. At the York 2007 show there were 3 L89s ( first anyone could remember having that many shown at one time ) and all had very similar build dates. Two were built the same week and had the docs to prove it and the third was built the following week. They were all coupes.

The '69 L89 rag tops were very few and far between. The number made I have seen ranges anywhere from 10-17 depending on the source. Without the factory records it's hard to pin point an exact number but pretty much everyone agrees it was a very small number.

Yes, it is very cool of Kevin to share his collection on line. http://www.corvettes-musclecars.com/home.shtm

Apparently the L89 Ragtop took advantage of the weight rules in a NHRA class?
Was it more dominant becuase of the weight transfer and being lighter in the nose? That would make it a hell-uv-a screamer out of the hole.

The bigger question on these cars might be how many are documented. As far as I know the car belonging to Kevin is the only '69 with docs. Does anyone know of another?

I'd guess the spoiler is an add on but not sure.

Just curious. I have a strangely ordered 1969 SS 396 convertible under restoration. Had standard interior with power top and power windows. Factory d80 spoilers on trim tag. Car is a 4 speed which I have. Factory engine long gone. No AC and no RS options. Just kinda curious.

Kevins car was sold new 20 miles away from me in the small town of Zumbrota, MN (Grover Auto). I know the guy who sold it to him If only I was older and wiser at the time when Kevin bought it!! Very Cool Car!
