Thanks Andy. This is just another example of free mkt. economics. The product needs to retail for under $100. It will cost me close to $50 to have it built here in the US. That means retail will have to be $150-$200.
The consensus of focus groups, friends and sellers is that this product will be a hot seller at $99 and will be relegated to a boutique item at a higher price. My hope was that this product would have a Made in America tag on it. Should I ignore what the mkt. says and risk losing millions of dollars in sales? Would you? We tax our American businesses at the second highest rate in the world. The policies of this new administration are going to make doing business in the US virtually impossible. |

No offense Ray but IMHO I don't think the home of the American Musclecar is the place to post a thread like this. I'd like to come to this site to see discussions about cars and I figure so do many others. Just seems wrong on so many levels.
![]() Again, not trying to be disrespectful.

Wow, it's just hard to beleive that with all the jobs being lost to the Chineese that someone here in the US isn't willing to take on this job. Makes me shake my head. (Mods...If my post is considered "political", feel free to junk it.)

Sorry Darren X33 but I think that's why this is called the "Lounge". It is a place where we can talk about things that are 'not' car related.
In fact the non-car value of this site has been demonstrated by the fact that a member here has contacted me with information that may be very helpful. Personally, I don't see how anybody could have a problem with that. As to the fact that we probably won't be able to build this product in the U.S.: my partner and I have traveled to three different U.S. mfgs. to meet face to face with good American companies that want desperately to get into our product's mkt. We left the last one knowing this was a company we wanted to partner with. Our retail sellers have told us what the product needs to sell for. The price they agree on virtually set in stone. They know their business. I don't. U.S. makers put our product at a price the public will not pay. Our product would be relegated to boutique status. This is the way the free mkt. works. The end user is king. He decides what he will pay and every other decision has to be based on that fact. Try selling gas on one corner for $4 when the guy across the street has it for $3. It's that simple. Here's where the lounge can really shine....help me find a U.S. mfg. that will build my product at a price that is at least competitive, same ballpark, with the off shore mfgs. and I will give them the business! |

Not until the Gov. starts taxing imported products to point when manufactures in this country can compete. You will see this happen every time. We have always want it cheap. We have screwed ourselves. It's our own fault.

Exactly! I would add it needs to be a even playing field with items taxed coming and going, I would be interested in reading factual data at todays trading rates, years ago I read in Time how bad our stuff going into other countries was taxed it was almost pointless to ship it and there stuff coming into the US from the same ports was barely taxed, I say play fair bend us at there border same goes here
