Default Re: repop dated glass

I have been hearing that the windshield thickness of the repop glass is not the same as original, that it is thinner and thus does not sit at the same height as stock glass. This in turn apparently causes the stainless trim to angle down to sit against the windshield and looks noticeably wrong. Has anybody encountered this?

What is the recommendation for sealing the windshield? Is the butyl tape available? I heard the suggestion that the tape was available in thicker than stock size to help place the windshield at the correct (stock) height.

I'd like to get this done right the first time so appreciate any thoughts on the subject.
