It has an obvious reproduction vin# or is it a state issued replacement vin#? Some states will use the orginal vin#, verified by the hidden vin#'s. And some states create there own vin#. Can you post some pics? Roger

The Facts that he knows so far are. 2 owners ago sold the car with out a vin to a guy, that owner had a reproduction vin plate made and put that in the car. Then my buddy bought the car with a vin in the car. Actually I do have pictures of the vin and hidden vin on cowl, but as of know I can't post them until my buddy figures out the course he wants to take. He spent good money on the car and I think he is getting more pissed as time goes on. He has a hard time letting things go. I say drive it and enjoy it!!!

This sounds like a sour deal a friend of mine encountered with one of the large auction houses. He bought what was supposed to be a documented, numbers matching, rare and desirable '69 Camaro. I told him to contact another good friend of mine for an informed and comprehensive appraisal and evaluation. He did call, and was told he bought a car that had been grossly misrepresented and had counterfeit data plates and re-stamped components. Through the appraiser (Jerry MacNeish- Camaro Hi-Perfomance), and the appraiser's attorney, the car was put into litigation and susequently returned to the seller for a refund. My suggestion here would be to contact and contract Jerry for at least an evaluation of said data and V.I.N. plates and let him recommend the next step, be it legal or otherwise. It is sad when this happens to what is supposed a to be a fun hobby and for me what has evolved into a passion. Usually, when money, sometimes large amounts of money are invoved, not everyone plays by the rules or has the same level of honesty and diplomacy. Until next time.... Dave.
