Can anyone make out what model it was? Best guess 307 or 327 X-11?

Sad but as mentioned above at least it can bring closure to the families.
Amazing it's two separate cases a decade apart, hopefully no foul play involved but you'd expect the authorities will check into any cold but like cases also sonar scope similar locations in the area. Can't help but notice the grille still looks Ok, probably soon broken by tow-joes or someone trying to get under the hood. ~ Pete

Just watched the video of the scene..appears the main road has a "T" intersection and if you go straight it has a hill crest then right down into a boat ramp launch-that is where the cars were found..bet both drivers were unfamiliar with the layout and just drove straight into the lake thinking they were on the main road.
After seeing the layout I don't think there was foul play involved...just dark of night, poor road planning, minimalno lights or signs, going a little too fast, not paying attention and maybe just a little booze...all leading to a tragic end. |

The smashed back end of the camaro had me 1st thinking of foul play and possibly being rammed into the lake.
But now see it looks like rust damage or when pulled out. Scroll down for more video.. http://www.nydailynews.com/news/national...ticle-1.1459085 |

For years, they have pulled stolen cars out of the bayou by my family's business. When the droughts hit in the summer, you start to see the roof tops. Being unibody and rusted to bits, the Camaro may have broken apart when they tried to pull it out from the rear. Just my guess after watching cars get pulled out for years.

We have old strip mining high walls(average 80-120 ft high) in my area with ponds 20-30 feet deep at the base..before reclamation was made to happen. Out in very rural areas..hunters and fisherman are always finding stolen cars at the bottom of the ponds striped of their parts. Every so often atv rider not familiar with the area go over the walls and end up on the morgue table. |

This reminds me of another very sad story I saw recently: July 25 2013 two women drown after driving off boat ramp.

There was a vehicle found in one our local lakes in the last couple of years that had a body in it. They had been missing for years, and had just crashed into the lake late at night.
Pretty sad for the families, not knowing, all those years.... http://scaredmonkeys.net/index.php?topic=7704.0 64 Chrysler, just like my daughters car. |
