I don't think that paint scheme will piss off many people in Estonia.

Estonians are very pro-American for the most part.

While like many in Europe, they at times tend to have a negative view of certain aspects of American life (rampant obesity, educational issues, etc.), many Estonians also very much embrace Americana. There is a large car show in Haapsalu, Estonia every summer which celebrates only American cars. It is often held in conjunction with a drag race weekend at an old Soviet military airstrip with exhibition drag cars brought in from Scandinavian countries. It is not surprising to see this car painted in such a flag motif as I have attended this car show at least half a dozen times and there are more American flags there than most of 4th of July gatherings you would see here. Just about every attendee is wearing American flag clothing. Even on a typical summer day in Tallinn, you might see a '60's era restored Cadillac or early Corvette out for a drive, though in a country of 1.3 million people, the numbers of American classics are sparse.

While I don't think much about this particular car, it is nice to see America celebrated in distant lands. And, I know a few things about Estonia in particular as I have been the Honorary Consul for the Republic of Estonia in Washington State for the past 8 years.

Seems like the whole world hates America, American's, and our way of life. Reminds me of a song I heard long ago.

I was once called "You Damn American Imperialist" by a communist when I was chewing a McDonalds Cheeseburger out in the street. This was in the early 70's but those guys are still out there. In 1974 one McDonalds restaurant was bombed here in Stockholm because of the war in Vietnam. Just a small explosion that broke some windows but it sent the message, those who did it were caught and jailed the day after.

The Estonians themselves love America as the other Baltic countries do too, and I think this car is a sign of that. Here in Sweden there is a difference with a lot of lefties that rather would see the old Soviet-time come back. Sad but true.

That is just bizarre.

If you look at some of the (older) muscle car or American car books from Europe (usually published in the UK), you often find pics of American cars with personalization that include the American flag. This car has taken it to the nth degree, but to me it's just par for the course - nothing more than reflecting the culture that produced these cars.
