I have 1969 pictures of a Copo Camaro showing no air cleaner decals. I also recall seeing GM photos of a '69 L78 Nova with no air cleaner sticker. Like most of GM production, final assembly may vary. My favorite factory variation would be the chambered exhaust ZL1 Camaro with different style trim pin stripe colors, one side white, one side black.

Do you have pix of that ZL1 with black n white stripes ?
It may be the same car I saw & drove in N.C. fresh from Dave Tenel's shop, ,,,,1987 a Carl Dwiggins car, later sold to Reggie Jackson. As far as GM photos and Magazine test cars go,,,,I feel those are Engineering and Advertising Cars.....not Regular Production Cars

The ZL1 built with black/white D96 stripes is #59 the former Dwiggins car. It was not restored that way.
The Hot Rod '69 Z/28 test car still exists and is fully documented. Final assembled on or about September 30, 1968 at Van Nuys it was part of the LA Zone press fleet, featured in other magazines also. The Olympic Gold Yenko with the '427' decal is N579281. Both production units. Super Stock tested a '69 427 Yenko Chevelle in the August '69 issue. No air cleaner decals. Here's a link to an engine bay photo of an L72 COPO shortly after delivery. Appears to not have been built with decals but was restored with them. http://www.icehouse.net/camaros/slvrcopo.htm

Point - counter point......
Pix taken ....A Week to 3 Weeks After delivery With Noticeable Mods completed doesn't Prove anything other than more conversation....... A Car built in September, thrashed more than any Rental car by A Dozen drivers for "Press" & Features to SELL the intended Model and Magazines.... Duh......4 months later. Again, Engineering, Magazine Test Cars Press fleets, Ad Cars aren't the Norm....Everyone of those cars has been "tweaked, tuned, touched, modified". some way or another....... I stick to my Guns....so much of what is read ...(which has been recycled over 46 years) is taken to be Gospel,,,,when in reality it's Rhetoric. Pete n Re Pete.....The "Art of Print" is interpretated at face value ....The Real story , like most is Always between the lines....

So photographic evidence of production cars, often from dealer stock, photographed 46 years ago is "rhetoric" because you say so?

You're just not "Getting it".
Three times you misinterpreted and Questioned what I wrote with explanation. What Photos are you even referring to....?. Where are they ? The rhetorical analysis..... where's Your PROOF of FACTS ?. Its all conjecture and lack of insight on what your reference material is. Anybody can chime in..... with facts if they wish.... Anytime something is rewritten, edited, reprinted is flawed , as its based on "that persons interpretation" . ..Another Perfect example is another thread here about HOT ROD NEWS reporting on New 1970 Model Chevrolet Muscle Car info to the public.. where it's mostly Just Wrong. But somebody wrote it, so it must be true... ... Believe 1/2 of what is read and None of what is heard 2nd, 3rd. or 4th. Hand info....and reality may rise to the forefront.....finally.

Hot Rod magazine January 1969 page 32…production Z/28 no air cleaner decal. Popular Hot Rodding magazine April 1969 page 21…same car better photo.
Popular Hot Rodding magazine July 1969 page 23 #5 ZL1 from stock at Fred Gibb Chev…no air cleaner decal. Same photo in Hot Rod June 1998 page 49. Super Stock magazine July 1969 page 26 Yenko Camaro showing ‘427’ decal [seal partially obscures lid]. Super Stock magazine August 1969 page 38 Yenko Chevelle pulled from dealer stock, no air cleaner decals. Don't forget the link to the photos of the then-new automatic COPO, no decals. Rational people will conclude not every car built received air cleaner decals.

This discussion was opened on Z/28 302-290 decals with exceptions on a Few ZL 1's.
The link you said to look at of the Automatic COPO Confirmed those pix were taken A Week to 3 Weeks After the Owner Was in Piossession of the Car & AFTER. MODIFICATIONS , such as wheels (By The Way. ..looking at the Fresh Air, Air cleaner assembly its Obvious Someone played with it. . As the Hood Seal is on Upside Down !!!! Being a factory job ? a Factory Goof up ? Owner ....is more likely. Your window of 3 weeks is suspect...... as is 10,000 miles of untouched original in the Article about the Z/28.... .There is NO SUCH THING AS AN " UNTOUCHED 10,000 mile Car" that has Crisp n Clear photos of A VERY TOUCHED CAR..,.......all along, I said the owner probably removed the decal . NEXT......!

Ok I get it. Decals are missing on all 4 cars noted because they were scraped off for some reason. Sure. Odd that they left the AC decal on the COPO.
What's your excuse on the Yenko Chevelle? The article stressed that it was completely stock, not even slicks. AIR system intact, exhaust manifolds. Production car, pulled from stock at Marshall Chevrolet. No decals.
