being an olds guy I can tell you this, I have never seen a batch of 442's that were more pieced together (and with pieces missing). w-30's with wrong heads, cars that were "authentic" with no paperwork shown, missing or incorrect stripes etc etc. people just buy to buy. There will be a need for an authenticator to do what the chev-ford-mopar-pntiac guys are doing down there. if someone had a real nice car there this year it would have been lost in the shuffle I fear. And then there are all the cars "made" just for this auction. I even see "ls-6" cars with the trunk weatherstrip located at the top of the trunk? A lot of cars restored by people unaware of the car they are doing or the customer doesn't care.

"The one thing I can't accept @ all,are tall 22" circus wagon wheels on these 45 + year cars......nooooooooo."

That has got to be the biggest BS movement I have ever seen -- those Boozo wheels look like warmed over crap on older cars ... well maybe not a K-Car as anything would help the look of those things. TAZ

But good cars still brought good money:
1954 3300 mile Corvette 200k plus juice
1953 #300 Corvette 485k plus juice
1970 LS5 Convert excellent restored 172K plus juice
1970 LS6 Convert unrestored complete real 160K plus juice
1967 350hp Corvette Coupe 120K plus juice
1957 fuelie Corvette 175K plus juice
1969 Ram Air IV GTO Conv 230k plus juice.
Those are not bad numbers for good cars.

I think the 54 Corvette may have been a world record and can't imagine a GTO ram air IV (auto) convertible at 230K not being a record.

If you are talking the green convert, not really. I inspected this car and it would virtually all new sheetmetal, firewall body mounts and at least a trunk floor and drop downs. It will be a very expensive restoration to say the least. A real car but with no paperwork it is going to be a large investment with lots of hidden rust underneath. The owner did VERY well and I congratulated him on it especially since he would have lost a LOT of money had he excepted my offer. There are several Yenko board members here who have attempted to buy this car over the last 2 years.

I thought it was pretty strong money, but its the most complete real LS6 convertible I've seen, even without paper.
