Re: 69 Chevelle 300 Deluxe Post Coupe SS
Thanks for the kind words Bill.
You see so many "sale ads" full of smoke and mirrors and that is not how I am. The third owner had a show board highlighting "1 of 6 L89 SS Post Cars Produced". He actually sent me that board after I finally tracked him down. The same statement was made during an interview for the old Horsepower TV show by the next owner. You are very knowledgeable on this stuff Bill and that figure of "6" is obviously just a guesstimate based on Tonowanda production engines and the overall car production percentage of the various models. Nobody knows for sure how many were actually made. During my ownership I have never referred to it as a L89, even though many enthusiasts and references in magazines have said that it is. I certainly cannot control what some people say after seeing the car if they have not talked to me about it. Could it have started life as a L89? Certainly, but without dealer paperwork or original block there is no way to confirm it. I think if you attempt to direct potential purchasers in that direction without proper supporting documentation then you are doing more harm than good. So many people selling cars are afraid to just "let the car stand on its own merit" and try to misdirect people. Quality, rarity and confirmed SS are the main selling points here in my opinion. If it could be proven as a L89 (original block or not) then the price would be considerably higher than what I am asking, given the quality of the car. I did not buy the car in 2000 under the assumption that it was a L89. I flew down to Florida and ended up purchasing the car primarily because it was the colour I wanted, the model I liked and was a high HP setup. My believe is leaning toward it being a L78 originally, but, here again, no formal confirmation of that.

Re: 69 Chevelle 300 Deluxe Post Coupe SS
Car is sold.
I had it listed on a couple of locations and am pleased to report it was this ad on yenko.net where the purchaser first saw it. Thanks to this board for the opportunity and to all the members who made favourable comments in this thread. Also, although I am not aware of who they were, apparently the purchaser talked to several people personally about the car and myself. Not sure if those people are members on here. After 16 years it is going to be sad and tough to see the car get on the transport and head down the road. However, I am pleased to know it is going to a very good home. I will not be getting another car, but will keep my foot in the hobby somewhat by continuing to provide fellow enthusiasts with my specialized detail decals.
