Very nice. Reminds me of an old small tank car in So. Cal San Diego North Cty in the 70's.

In '63, all three options (fuel, tank, & brakes) were included in the Z06 package. I believe J56 (big brakes) began as a stand alone option in '64. What is the build date on the car? P48 (knock off wheels) were included in Z06 option on early cars.

Bought a 63' Vette rag top in 66' -- needed a brake job ... that was the first time I saw brake shoes like and it freaked me out ... thought the brake shoes had come apart. TAZ

----Bruce,,,There are several 63 Corvette Z06s out there that didn't have the tank option. The tank was dropped from the package later in the model year. As a matter of fact a double black non-tank Z06 sold at Bloomington Gold this year for a reported $400,000. A wonderful friend of mine and my former insurance man in Illinois (RIP) had one that his family still has with far less than 5000 miles. Its Sebring Silver with saddle leather, and is just amazing in its originality. In my opinion, the best there is! Those are just two.....Bill S

Hi Bruce, the small tank Z06 is well known in the 63 world as the big tank option was dropped from the option line up later in production. Also, i'm fairly confident knock off wheels was never a factory option until 1965. From what I remember knock off wheels were offered from the dealer only. Nonetheless, I saw the pics on FB and am beside myself. Amazing find. Will be one extensive restoration but ultimately one that will forever save a rare Corvette! Dan

Good clarification. I was looking at the options list at the start of the '63 model year. Looks like pricing and included options on Z06 changed 2/1/63. I owned a '64 tanker with big brakes and fuel & was aware that they were separate options by '64.
This barn find car will be incredible when restored - wish it was for sale! :-) |
