Chuck, all the early original 2nd gens I've seen have had the vinyl cover over the rear hump.
That dash looks too good to be original. Mike |

Roeville, As you may know I've been one of the 2nd Gen judges at the CAMARO Nationals
for many years. I also have sold MANY replacement/reproduction VINYL rear floor hump covers to early 2nd Gen Camaro owners at Nastyz28.com While I agree with your above statement I didnt want to make a public conclusion, before reading more from the 71 owner and OP...... The dash does look excellent and most likely has been replaced with the newer NPD reproduction

Thanks to all that commented. It is nice to see the response and I appreciate the compliments!
I guess I should start out with saying that I too am crazy about originality and truely support the correct, assembly line option list, finish and look. This can be supported by the last two cars I restored. I have not had the opportunity to get the Camaro home just yet, and trust me, I want it here in my shop. It was a Canadian sold car therefor the GM doc's are available. I am told the car is an original 45,000 mile car that was restored back in the early nineties. As far as what was replaced interior wise, I am not sure yet at this point. I will post some more pics when she is home. Having said that, I am just looking to satisfy a seat combination that I desire more, which happens to be the low back 70 style seat. If I do switch out the seats, rest assure that they will end up on the shelf, never to be seperated from the car. Maybe I can contact you Chuck to discuss some options and also contact SMS and see what they have to offer as well. Paul |

SMS is a great source for the material but beware that not all the materials they have as NOS are the same. For example when I needed a section of the medium saddle tan naugahyde for Gramma's '75 Firebird seat for an abrasion where the seat belt buckle rubbed, they had the exact date coded vinyl but when it arrived it was the canvas backed (non-stretchable) vinyl and not the more elastic vinyl I needed for the repair panel. The material they had was what the factpry made the welting between the panels, with - the vinyl they rolled up a round strip of plastic in.

I have written LEGENDARY an email explaining what the OP wants to accomplish...
I will find out if LEGENDARY has 792 material or needs to buy from SMS I will find out labor cost to mfg covers FYI, American Cushion Industries does NOT mfg foam buns for 1970 Camaro (one year only) Ive had to buy foam sold by OER mfg "offshore"......no other alternatives that I know of.
