I've used VHT Chevy Orange in the past. It seemed to work pretty good and the color is definitely in the orange family!! Is it not a "preferred" paint anymore? Or at least an option?
I'm in the process of building a new motor for the Nova and will be painting it good old Chevy Orange!!

The VHT brand used to be one of my favorites. I haven't sprayed a motor in a long time but the last one I did is as follows.
I purchased a used motor that was painted a color the matched the car. Not sure what paint was used but it was almost impossible to get it all off without spending lots of time on it. So I tried the POR-15 chevy orange high temp paint you brush on. Just a little shinier than the rattle can but nice smoother finish that cleans off much easier. Very happy with it after many years. |

I used Martin Senour paint in the past, it was available from NAPA stores. Very close match to the factory painted valve covers and engine. It is impossible to find nowadays though. Was the company bought out by another paint company or did they just go out of business? Don.
