I spoke with Bobby at the 2001 SEMA show after he'd broken into the 9's...nice guy and a cool, impressive runnin' car!

[ QUOTE ]
Under 10 sec is quick for a Super Stocker 427 Camaro. What were they running in 1969?low 11's if I remmember correctly. Grumpy ran under 10 sec in the first ever Pro Stock race in 1970 in his 68 Camaro but the Pro Stock rules had few limitations. They were running ZL1s, Hemis, SOHC 427 Fords, Boss 429s, and L88s with two big 4B Holleys. Some people say Grumpy ran a 430 CanAm block in that race but I have not been able to confirm that. My Dick Arons 1969 SS/E 427 Camaro ran a best of 10.74 in the high 120's mph, Dick said. I have a few articles from 1969 when they won with the Camaro and they were running in the low 11's and high 10's, but the articles said that most guys were sandbagging and if there was a red light, then they would shut down and not show what they really were capable of running.
