The lead time on the magazine is close to six weeks. I think that Toms intro was written well in advance of MCR's end. I will miss the feeling I got every time the new MCR came out. No other magazine had my interest like MCR. I have not had any conversation with Tom since. He called the day after the WTC disaster to check up on us since we were so close to the PA crash site. I hope to hear from him soon. If I do I will post what I learn...BKH

I posted this on the *Pure Stock* forum on the Buick board, but I'll see if my Chevy-buds notice two VERY distinctive differences in this issue than I think I've seen in any other issue of MCR ??

(Besides the fact that not ONE of the FOUR that I bought had a subscription card in it !!)

Hey Rob,
You are not alone! My buddy Dave (owns a custom paint shop) did an article for "Mustang Illustrated" which was McMullen Argus' "vintage" Mustang magazine. He spent three days sanding, prepping and painting a car for a tech article. He had to continually stop for photos and explanations. Well when the Primedia deal went thru they nixed "Mustang Illustated" along with Dave's work (which of course he was not and will not ever be reimbursed for). They sent him a copy of the never to be released cover. Big thanks huh?

Casey Marks,

I looked through the 2002 MCR and can not find the two VERY distinctive differences. What are they?

Mark,

Here was my observation(s):

1. There was no subscription card. Probably not a surprise to those of us that knew the mag got the axe, but to the person not-in-the-know ....

2. I've been getting Car Review / MCR for 13+ years, and this issue, BY FAR, had more advertisements by NON-resto type companies than any that I can remember ...... PAW, Mopar Performance, etc.

3. The SAME article about the history of the Hemi was also in the latest issue of *Mopar Muscle*. And as I understand it, it was ALSO in a recent issue of Hot Rod ?? I don't get HR, so I'm not sure on that one. I do know that the giveaway crate Hemi is a Hot Rod sponsored deal though.

Just my observations ......

Casey,
You hit it right on the head! I noticed the same odd things. There were no subscription cars, and the stories that you mentioned were in other mags. I will have to write a note to Greg Rager and find out what the real deal was.
