So you are saying that if it had a TH400 that it was a 427 car? Didn't 396 cars have TH400's?

No what I meant was that if it was a 427 car it would be a 390 hp. No turbos came behind a solid lifter hi horse motor until the 68 gibb novas. It could have been a 396 I don't know?

My mother brought one of these cars home brand new.I'll never forget it.I was sitting on my minibike in the driveway when my ma came up the street with it.It was that muslane blue convert. with black top and interior.I could see the BB flag form a distance and thought WOW!! a 396 but when she pulled in the diveway I saw the 427 on the fender. My ma didn't know anything other than it was a convert.

Jason,
I am not real up on the '66's but for starters, Look on the drivers side near where the linkage goes into the case. Look around for a VIN stamping. If there and it matches the car then procede to look on the transmission tag mounted on the passenger side. There should be a large letter 'C' on the left and another letter on the far right. If it is a 'A, C or H', then it is for a 396. If it is a 'B' it is for either a 427 or a police 396. Not all Turbo 400's had VIN stampings on them so do not be alarmed if there is none. If it is there but doesn't match the car's VIN, then the above doesn't matter. I do not believe there are any other differences to the car between a 396 and/or a 427 in '66.

I thought the 1967 Model year was the first year for the TH400 in a Chevy
