I'm currently restoring a 1969 Jack Douglass Yenko, [/ QUOTE ] Is this the car you got from Clint, which he verified as NOT ever being Yenko equipped?

SYC, Now I think your putting words into Clint's mouth. Clint told me that when he talked to the original owner of this Jack Douglass Yenko sold COPO Camaro he responded to Clints query about owning a 1969 Camaro by saying "You mean my old Yenko!" At that point in time Clint was the only person to ever talk to an original owner of a Jack Douglass sold Yenko Camaro. With the support of Mr. Jack Douglass himself, the original owners comments, other Jack Douglass Yenko owners and with the documentation I have supporting this 1969 camaro I'm very satisified with its pedigree as being a Yenko sold COPO thru Jack Douglass Chevrolet. I'm also very proud to own and to be restoring this unique Camaro here at Coast 2 Coast Camaro Parts and Restorations. Thank you,

Is this the car from the old school 'camping' pic?

I too have spoke with Clint aboutt he car, numrous times, BUT, As not to put words into Clint's mouth, here is what he posted a while back.
[ QUOTE ] As I have continued to have conversations with the original owner, the story about how the car originally came has evolved. I simply spoke too soon when I stated the car was badged. It is a fact that the original owner of the car was under the impression that he purchased a Yenko. In my initial conversation with him, he did stated that the car was badged as a Yenko and that is why I was so excited because it appeared that we solved a piece of the mystery behind these cars. I also spoke with his best friend, Nick M, who claimed to have pictures of my car when it was close to new, and he also stated that the car was badged. He was at the dealership the day my car was purchased and he had purchased his Yenko Chevelle on the same day. I believe that Chris S also had this conversation with him and he stated the same thing. In more recent conversation, the original owner now states that although the car may not have been badged externally, he definately remembers Yenko decals within the engine compartment. I have not gotten back with his best friend to confirm the information. Therefor, based on the information that I have, the car appears to be a Double COPO. Based on inaccuracy from the original owner and his best friend, I will not put any Yenko markings on the car until a picture is produced of the engine compartment showing Yenko decals. Even though the original owner was under the impression that the car was a Yenko, for whatever reason, the car is simply not and will not be represented as such. Based on my research, it has been difficult for me to take the information from the original owner and his best friend and consider it the gospel. Another example of this would be that his friend, when I initially contacted him, stated to me and Chris that his Yenko Chevelle was striped at Jack Douglass Chevrolet and also stated that his car was a Jack Douglass car as opposed to a Cannonsburg car. It was not until he started digging up original paperwork on the car that he said that his car was from Cannonsburg. This was a long time ago and the facts, in some situations, are not clear. I believe that one of a couple things may have happened with my car. Either the car did have Yenko decals in the engine compartment and when I posed the question to him whether or not the car was badged he was speaking in terms of the engine decals, or, at the dealership that day, the salesperson represented the car as a Yenko and used that Yenko name as a sales tactic. Who knows? Never the less, just because the original owner was under the impression that he purchased a Yenko, does not make it a Yenko. Especially since I have no documentation proving so. Keep in mind, I am not speaking on behalf of all of the Douglass cars. I believe that some were striped and badged, just not mine. As far as the accident goes, the car was involved in an accident with the second owner. The car was hit in the tail panel and the rear right quarter. As the restorer was stripping the car, he came to the conclusion that the tail panel and quarter panel were still the original and that they had cheap repairs done to them when they were damaged. The car may have been repainted but I am now certain that the picture was taken prior to the accident. -------------------- Clint R [/ QUOTE ]

Well its nice to know that if you relist the item you will properly disclose the welded up firewall part. Of coarse your Web site Ad just states "Heater Delete". I'm sure you will also disclose the Cracked rear frame also.
As for my ZL1.. I'm sure I told the Writer of the Article the Story of my attempts to get back my Orig. Engine just as I probably told you. I think I tell most People the fact that I have the Engine for # 26 and the Owner of # 26 has the Engine for # 3. The Author probably didn't think it warranted print. I guess this is your Feeble attempt to try to get back at me because I spoke about your Misrepresentation of a Car you are trying to sell ? Good Luck with your Dougko as I'm sure it will turn out perfect.

Charley, I'm not trying to get back at anyone for anything. I don't play them games. I just asked you a question about a car thats in a national publication. Your responce was looking to be taking a civil approach but you just can't help yourself by trying to slam me. I never did anything to you but you always seem to stick your nose in my doings and make inmature, uninformed comments. Who made you the national camaro cop and website patrol. You seem to assume things to soon and have a negative interpertation of what you may be reading at any given point in time. Hopefully from now on we can just keep away from each other dealings and forums since I don't know what it will take to make this right with you. My Douglass Yenko car is going to turn out just fine. Thank you,

Tom, that was what I thought, thanks for the copy.
For once, I think I'm off the 'hotseat'! Maxx, based on the research by Clint posted by Tom, will you stripe the car?

Charley I heard that story about the motor of your car a long time ago. I actually couldn't remember who's car it was. Cool story but a bummer on your part that the owner of #26 doesn't want to switch the motors back. (I think that is what I heard) I know that you are probably tired of telling the story but how did they end up with each other's motors anyways? I hope the motors are reunited with the right cars one day.

Actually Maxx I think I tend to give People the benefit of the doubt rather than asume the worst. You just seem to bring out the best in me. I in fact was not positive it was the same car until Ed Ernst spoke with our old Club Member yesterday and relayed the info to me. I think my opinion of you formed when you were out here looking at a Camaro for sale. My Good friend entertained you for a couple days and even took you to a Pleasanton swap meet with him. At the Swap meet he finds a set of AD Rally Wheels for I think 90.00 for the whole set. The way it was relayed to me was you then implored him to let you buy them because you really needed them. He did so even though he doesn't have a bunch of Money and the Price he could have sold them for would mean alot to him. Low and behold the next day you are then trying to sell the same wheels to Ed Ernst for about 600.00 and telling him that his Jan built Z shouldn't have YH's like he is looking for. You can dispute his story but I have known him for 25 plus years and I will take him at his word every time. He had no idea you were a Dealer and just believed you when you said you really needed the wheels.
Your car is not a bad car it just has problems that I think should have been disclosed to Ebay Bidders. You were too busy for a whole week to correct the Ebay omissions or even respond on this site ? And you really think anyone here believes that your comment about my Engine wasn't an attempted Dig ? I could go on but I will refrain. Frank... A Guy bought the Engine out of # 3 back in about 1971 and put it in his Moms basement. Over the years I think he tried to buy # 3 but the then owner wouldn't sell. I think he thought he would get it when it did sell but was pissed when Porterfield bought the car. Porterfield tried to get the Engine from him but the Guy wanted Porterfield to sell him the Car. The Guy later buys # 26 from Ed Cunneen and starts to restore it. Porterfield finds the orig. block for # 26 and buys it. He then has it repaired and does a complete Magazine build up of the Engine with Batten Performance. He keeps offering to trade the Guy but the Guy for some reason thinks everybody is out to cheat him. Porterfield gets tired and sells the engine for # 26. Later on after I buy # 3 I end up buying the # 26 Engine from Jim Stubbings thinking that I can work a deal with the Guy. He yanked my chain for awhile getting digital pics of # 26 sent to him on a Floppy and I went as far as to offer him Cash and the Engine for # 3's but he just won't budge. I offered a substantial amount of Cash for his whole car that I don't think he will ever finish but so far nothing has worked. I then took the Counter Engine out of # 3 and put Engine # 26 in # 3. I'm not gonna worry about it anymore. Someday either he will wake up and contact me to do a Trade or his car will get sold and the New owner will track me down to correct things. I am no longer willing to throw any Money into the deal, just trade. Sad story but there are a few Orig blocks for ZL1's that the People that possess them won't sell or want the Moon for them. The Orig. Engine for the other Yellow ZL1 is in Ky in a Guys Garage but the Guy won't sell it. I think he was offered 30K but turned it down ? The orig. Block for the Blue RS is supposedy out there but the price is now over 30K I think.
