August of 62, I made my first trip to the strip. Quaker City, Salem, Ohio. I ran my 57 Olds, I think I ran in the 16s! Those were the days [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif[/img] [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/[/img]!

The "Twist" hit number one on the charts in the summer of 60 and also repeated it's number one position in the summer of 61! not many songs did this! [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/scholar.gif[/img]

T...I suppose a loaf of bread was a nickel and you picked up lumps of coal that fell off the coal tenders along the tracks to keep the house warm too !!!

I think bread was a quarter? I used a wheel barrow to bring the coal in! My father owned a concrete block business and I would have to bring the coal in for the furnace to cure the blocks!
