Chevelle Question......

Most of the Canadian imported Copo Chevelles are 9566 Copos with 14" wheels. There were Canadian Copo Chevelles that are listed with Copo 9737LE, Copo 9562DE and 9694CB Power Drum Brakes! There are at least 3 equipped with these options that shipped into Canada. Triple Copos!

Pete I donít know it that is true because there were about 10 different numbers used in the documents for 427 COPO Chevelles. This probably has something to do with the way Baltimore Assembly plant handled their assembly documentation. Compared to Norwood who used one number (9561) for L72 Camaro production. It is not clear how many numbers were actually used for the 427 COPO Chevelle program. I believe that Yenko ordered the first L72 Chevelles with 9562 then there were changes made using different COPO numbers as more dealers wanted to order them with their own selection of options.

Just for clarification, Copo 9694CB is the copo for a single piston type - manual design front disc brake unit. The CB suffix refers an order combined with a 3-speed automatic transmission together with Copo 9737 and RPO J50 Vacuum Power Brakes. Disc Brakes were a manditory option on these cars.

If the 9694CB is the 3 speed auto with disc brake why is the J52 option not on the vehicle import sheet option list, only J50? The Canadian documentation call out 9694CB as 3 speed auto equipped with power drum. I would expect that if CB combined the J50 Power brake, 9737 option and disc brake option, the J52 would also be reflected in the option list as the J50 is. The 9737LE option is listed seperately on these cars. Another mystery.

Copo 9694 was used instead of J52. Here is a breakdown of parts used:

The copo build on 9694 incorporates heavy duty steering knuckle lower control arms (3954877-78), heavy duty steering knuckle and hub assembly (3966145-46), brake screw bleeder cover (5469581), brake main cylinder to metering valve pipe assembly (3908317), a front brake hose assembly (1230992), a power rake main cylinder assembly, a vacuum power brake cylinder assembly, wheel nut assembly and a tire valve stem extension. Finally, calipers (5469120-21)and a Driver-screw #2 Cross Recess (3760276).
