'The original engine was located around the Albany, New York area,
after being separated from the car for a period of time.' Did you locate the engine or was the engine with the car when you bought it? Always like to hear about cars that have had their drivetrains reunited. |

Elon,
I will also check with some of the Division one racers that I know. Joe Fasano knows the Malcolm Konner dealer very well and still lives in the area. Unfortunately if it's a Division One NHRA car, it probably led a rough life. Jerry |

HiHorse,
The engine was with the car, but not insstalled when I purchased the car. The previous owner bought the car first, stored it and went looking for the engine. He was able to trace the ownership back to the previous owners and finally found the engine. At the time it was still running in another vehicle. Apparently this search took him over 5 years until he located it. After locating the engine, he made a deal with the vehicles ownwer to swap out the COPO engine and replace it with a new engine. This was way before the privacy laws were enacted. I tried to run a check through NJ DMV and wound up with a bunch of paperwork, with the previous owners names and addresses crossed out by the NJ DMV. It's totally illegible. Elon

Jerry,
Thank you! Any help would be greatly appreciated! I figure with that paint job, there has to be someone who would remember the car. You can tell there may have been many people who worked on the car. Some of the work was professional looking, some was out-right butchery (in my opinion) and some was right in the middle of those two extremes. But it was the 70's, and this really wasn't any different than many street/race cars looked like from that era. My point is, someone had to paint the car, someone must have seen it running on the street or on the track. Someone welded up the traction bars, beat the rear fender wells in, cut a hole in the trans tunnel etc, etc. I had timing slips from Englishtown which I unfortunately misplaced. With the internet being what it is, there is an excellent possibility that someone will look at the pictures and jog their memory. Just look at what happened with Verne's car! Stranger things have been known to happen! ![]() Elon
