There's been one of these W30 wagons showing up at Englishtown from time to time. It wasn't blue so it was another car. Kind of a cool creation.

Oldsmobile did not produce any W-30 442 wagons. As was stated above, this is another urban legend, like the famed 71 GTO wagon, 72 GTO convertible, etc. They never made them.
We have to remember that there are people out there that just got into our hobby, they have a LOT of money to spend, and want that "1 of 1". When they see or hear of a car like a 442 wagon or GTO wagon, they believe they need to act fast before someone else buys it out from under them. Then as they get more involved in the hobby, and start talking to people at car shows or cruise nights that actually know what they're talking about, the buyer realizes that he was taken. Now the buyer is embarrassed to take their car to specific car shows (like national events) for fear of being laughed at, so they stick to local shows and cruise nights. As time goes by, they grow tired of hearing comments about their car, so they begin to fabricate a story about how "this is the only one they ever made" (probably the same line that got them to buy the car in the first place), and argue with anyone that tells them different. Hey, that W-30 wagon is still a cool looking car, but it's a fabrication. Now I'm going out to the garage to work on my 69 Chevelle SS ZL-1. ![]()

yo norm,
If you want to get into a disscusion about the wagon, why don't u talk to the man who owns it, not someone in the crowd. Ask your olds people about the documented gold W-30 wagon that sold in Atlantic City in 2001. Many people in Philly know of that car, Myth or not, supposedly 5-6 "wonder wagons" were made in 1971, and yes in 1972 6 wagons were at indy as pace cars for camera crews and medical staff. Have seen one and have pictures from the olds nationals of another. Real or myth why in june 04 auto trader is someone selling a 71 olds, vista cruiser, 2 seat model, full power with a 455?? They do exsist |

Trigger,
First and foremost ..... nice looking wagon ! As you can see by mine, I also have an affinity for four-doors and a tailgate ! ![]() I know from FIRSTHAND experience that there is MUCH speculation on muscle-wagons. I am VERY well aquainted with the Indy Pace Car support wagons. It is no secret that they made 455 Vista Cruiser wagons. That is FACT ! However, where the speculation gets VERY, and I mean VERY gray is when the notion of a W-30 prepared wagon comes up. I would need to see ORIGINAL documentation that completely and thoroughly articulates the W-30 package on an A-body wagon. A W-25 hood, does not a W-30 make. ![]() I honestly don't think that anyone was slamming the car ... It is DAMN nice. When you've got something like you've got (I assume that it's yours ??), the skin has to take on an extra "thickness" ...... ![]() |

One more 1 of 1, A friend purchased a 1969 Impala SS 427 Wagon, The car had every option available including the 8 track and all of the buttons. It had a 427 390HP and a 4 speed to boot. I have never seen another like it.

Mark,
-------Not doubting what you say at all (well maybe a little), but could it just have been an Impala wagon with a 427/390 and 4yanker. Same car, and still very cool, just without the SS part. This would make a whole bunch more sense, even though I know some strange stuff has gotten out of GM. Maybe some SS emblems were attached at some time?...........Bill S |

In the January 2000 issue of Muscle Car Review, there was a story about a COPO '69 Kingswood Estate wagon with an L-72 and all the options, including a luggage rack, but no air conditioning. Ran mid 12's with slicks.
I saw this car at Floyd Garrett's museum in 2002. It has all of the documentation. As they say, truth is stranger than fiction. ![]() Andy

-----That car I believe is a real, ordered car. My doubt stems from the SS part of the other 69 wagon mentioned...........Bill S

That '69 Kingswood Estate wagon is a real regular option wagon ordered here in Rochester, NY at I believe Taylor Chevrolet. It's a white wagon. You couldn't have A/C with an L-72.
