[ QUOTE ]
If the car was giving a "total restoration", in 1984, why wasn't the buildsheet found then? ![]() [/ QUOTE ] A buildsheet for a Norwood Camaro is a rarity to say the least. It was just dumb luck back in '69 if a car happened to leave the line with it's buildsheet still in the car anyhow, it wasn't intended to be this highly sought after document that was essential to documenting the car, it was simply an order sheet for assembly line workers to follow. Kinda like when a waitress takes down your order and gives it to the cook. It's not too often that you get the cook's copy of your order brought to the table along with your burger and fries. I'm sure many build sheets got pitched at the car's last stop on the line, or they were gathered up and tossed along with the plastic off of the seats, hang tags, etc. during dealer prep/pre-delivery inspection. Don't be so quick to discredit a Norwood Camaro simply because it doesn't have a build sheet, you'll find there aren't many that do. |

Exactly at the last stop on the assembly line all of the build sheets were supposed to be discarded so it was the hastiness/laziness of the line workers that led to "us" discovering them to begin with.

I am quite familar with the whole buildsheet process. It's just really strange that in the seller's description that he would suggest removing the car's interior to find the buildsheet. My point is, you would think that the entire interior would have been removed during the 1984 "total restoration" and if there was a buildsheet to be found it would have been then.

I think the seller's comment about the build sheet was probably ill-advised. While I do not personally know the seller, one of my best friends knows him well and has spoken highly of him in the past, for what that's worth

Bill, out of curiosity, do you know if the car has the original engine in it?

I have no clue about anything on the car. I only know that my friend has spoken highly of the seller.

My understanding is that the engine and rear are correct, but the transmission is not.

Bill,
I too know the owner and have seen the car up close. He lives about 30 miles East of me. He has spent the past year cleaning the under side of the car and replating a few minor pieces. It was, by his admission, an 'over restoration' in 1984. They even clear coated the engine and intake, which he was planning to correct. I don't know if he got around to that yet. Whatever he tells you about the car can be taken as gospel; the best of his knowledge. He planned to bring it to SCR6 but was hit with rotator cup problems and didn't get the car back together in time. It's possible it will be there this year, if it hasn't sold by then. It's a fairly high-option car for a COPO. I have a copy of the dealer invoice somewhere as we had planned to do a display board for it. That may still happen.

I know his ad says they are correct, but does that mean they are the original parts that match the VIN and POP? I love the red, you don't find that many red COPOs.

The car is hugger orange. Unless you have owned the car since new or almost new, or know the intimate history it is difficult to claim it is absolutely original. You should ask the owner his interpretation correct instead of speculating. Is your JL8 absolutely the original drivetrain...
