Don't mess with old farts - age and treachery will always overcome youth and skill! Bullshit and brilliance only come with age and experience.

Wheels and tires are right on the money! Five-spokes look pretty darn good with whitewalls on'em.

Thanks Frank.
Actually, the chrome wheels (believe it or not) are factory optional 1964 14x6 chrome (yeah, they actually did that!). Those are only on the front now as "rollers'. I have all 4 15x7 E-Ts that came on the car (the two fronts were flat).

As for the engine shots: Those were taken in late '62. This is how the original
owner had it set up then. It was originaly delivered as a 380hp (single
4bbl). He must have traded away the original 380hp stuff for the 2x4s,
because there was no trace of any of it laying around. (and believe me, I went through the whole house, plus the house at the shore where he lived for awhile).

Valve covers are still in original paint. He had put chrome ones on it, but those originals were hanging on nails on the garage wall. The left one never got any
decals at Tonawanda. This is exactly how I'm going to finish it off -
just like he had it back then. Textbook Day-2 with the 15x7 E-Ts and
S/W gauges, and little chrome air cleaners (which were in the trunk of the car!) Although the E-Ts weren't available till '65, I think. They are the first design and are cast "Wheel Centre Co." inside (the "re" is not a typo).

I will say that this car really surprised me as to how much was still original. He never had a Hurst on it, just the factory limpy shifter; all 3 driveshaft universals are original, with the little Chevy bow tie cast into them; the orig. 4.11 posi looks like it's never been out; all 4 orig. spiral shocks; the original head pipes which are welded to the mufflers (factory installation). After I got this car home, I had to pinch myself to make sure I wasn't dreaming!

Belair, thanks for helping with the posts. As for old racing pics, I have some REAL old pics from when I was racing my black '62. I have to dig for them and try to get them scanned.
As for a grudge against Steve's Belair, well...............you'd better make sure he wants that sweet thing tromped on!

Verne
