TXSS your way off base as to why people don't disclose the differences between real and fake. The reasons are real and necessary in my opinion. I find this site extremely helpful in all aspects hobby. I always share what knowledge I feel appropriate, but you can go too far and actually help the builders of bogus cars. That where I draw the line.
Don't bad mouth the good, knowledgeable enthusiast on this site. If you want to know the differences take a look at a good one very closely and compare it to a fake. If you still can't figure it out PM me. Both type of tags have been posted. Regarding the POP, I agree that was an unnecessary comment and I think the poster owes Chuck an apology.

"Don't bad mouth the good, knowledgeable enthusiast on this site"
Exactly who did I bad mouth? I believe if you re-read my post you will see that I said nothing derogatory or made any negative reference to Unreal, this site or anyone on it. I said "some people" I did not say some people on this site. There's a big difference. My statement was in general terms regarding "some people" on the internet. I know the difference between a real cowl tag and a fake one. My point is I've seen a number of cowl tags, pop's, etc pronounced as Fake when they are not. But that's easy to do when a person can hide behind a screen name on the internet. As I said you may want to re-read my post before you call me down for doing something I did not do. People just need to think before they speak. " I don't think the word "fake" should be used casually " Just like I don't think the word liar or thief should be used casually. I've said it before and I'll say it again this is the number one site on the internet for car enthusiast...bar none. Rick

The car and it's paperwork are very real. Trust me, I transported the car and was one of the first persons to see the POP and Title last week after the sale. It's most likely the lowest mile original owner L89 Camaro that I know of. I agree someone owes Chuck an apology here.

Chuck,
I meant that a a joke....didn't mean to ruffle any feathers. I thought a smiley face was a dead givaway that I was making a lame attempt to be funny. Maybe next time, I'll insert "Charley Sucks!" NO WAIT, He's apparantly the only one who knew I was joking. I thought you posted the POP because it was ironic. I sincerely appologize. As for keeping my day job.....thanks for the advice. I think I will. Does this mean no one can joke on this site anymore? |

You are a class act.
I do however feel joking about a car's pedigree in most cases not a good idea. Kinda like not making fun about "your momma" or messing with someones food. I have owned some of the most commonly faked cars and know from experience how most people look at real one, as though "oh there's another fake". Make all the fun you want about my gut, garage, my comb over, my driving skills, but please not my L88. ![]() |

Just out of curiosity, what is it about that cropped pic that would prove or disprove any pedigree? I don't remember seeing any engine codes, or original owner's name, etc. Just a pretty cool address. How could making a joke(lame as it might have been) about the address call into question the pedigree of the car?
I guess I'm pretty nieve when it comes to paperwork. Maybe someone will enlighten me. |
