Both Armour All and Pledge are silicon based products. Any silicon based polish, whatever the name, will give the same results. I've used Murphy's oil soap on vinyl when I didn't have anything else, but it doesn't shine like silicon.
BTW, silicon is also a lubricant, hence the slide.
Great stuff, considering that they make gaskets and caulking with it as well.
As with all chemicals, read the label carefully.

I went to look at a '66 Corvette (Marina Blue?) years ago; thinking about buying it before I bought my '68. The car was unbelievably clean and shiny. I asked the owner what he used to keep the paint looking so good and he told me he had never used anything but Lemon Pledge. A few months later I bought my International Blue '68 and recalled what that fellow had told me. I tried Lemon Pledge on the Dark Blue Corvette. What an absolute MESS! At first I thought I had ruined the paint. Don't know why it worked for others and not for me but I NEVER used that stuff on a car again.

I don't think that silicon would adhear if sprayed over a well waxed car. If all the wax was stripped, it might stick to the paint better.
No buffing neccessary!

On my silver Nova I used it every other day...worked like a charm.

Nowadays...Honda polish (which is used on ATV's)...is basically the same thing without the lemon smell

And knowing Honda, they probably sell it for about 80 bucks a can

Most entertaining/dangerous has got to be the guys who do their snowmobile seats during a fall detail. Come winter, when it gets cold, they wrap their a$$ in nylon and hit the trail...hit it pretty hard actually in the first corner.

As for cars, I can deal with the overzealous detailers with the armour all. I can usually get that off. It's the hacks who shoot the entire underhood with clear lacquer that get their special spot in hell....

Reminds me of a time when I was a kid and slid from one side to another (several times) in a "well armoured" 74 SD 4spd
