Where does the 455 4bb come into play on a 70 442? so it would be a w? and does that help or hurt the value? the reason for the questions is I know nothing about olds and I know the location of a 455 car.

Standard motor for the 70 442 was a 455, 4 barrel.

The "W" designation is just an add-on package to the 442 (W30) and Cutlass (W31).

You could get a 455 in a Cutlass in various configurations.

The W30 455 had select fit parts including a more agressive cam, special heads, and some other parts like the aluminum intake.

The W31 was the "350" version of the above.

Hey Guys , he sent me a few pics that don't tell a whole lot , but what you see .....it looks like a pretty nice piece to restore . He is asking $18,000 ....said he was offered $15,500 and turned it down . I have no interest in purchasing the Olds car , but i'm in the process of getting a 70 chevelle conv. off of him and when that deal is secured .....i'll pass along the Olds to anyone interested . I do have to give the guy that turned me on to the conv. first shot on the Olds......he told me to check his stuff out and holler back and that's what i'm gonna do first because he got me the conv. hookup . Thanks , Richard
