Hi; The vin is 156118Y173843 ordered new at Shallcross Chevrolet Middletown De. The car was equipped with L-72 427 , M-22, F-41, 4:88 rear, radio delete, Butternut Yellow, Black vinyl. Interestingly enough Tommy Shalcross who owned the dealership rememberd this car well and gave Me the contact information to reach the original owner. The original owner was a wealth of Knowledge, he still has the lettered helmet and jackets and magazine articles about the car. I first ran across this car in 1980 a Young kid had it with only 3000 miles on it ( they flat towed it to the track , yes the speedo was hooked up) wearing fresh maaco paint, I watched it leave a parking lot and he dumped the clutch and rowed 4 gears leaving a lasting impression. He had the original window sticker which I viewed at that time and the atricle showing the car lettered. He drove it to school and I rode in it for years crusing Newark De. Yes I parked my LS-6 to ride in a big old boat we had a lot of fun with unsuspecting racers that never had a clue. He sold it to a car dealer in 1984 with only 5500 miles , I chased it for years knowing where it had gone, they painted it red and installed swivel seats and cragers . I had a friend local to where the car was watch it for years. Surprisingly it dissapeared and 2 years later showed up hundereds of miles away with the same owner now wanting to sell it, claiming it was a Motion car. I scooped it up and retuned it back to De. I have since located the original engine which had been pulled by the original owner and transplanted into a Camaro when He sold it. He directed me to where the car was sold to and there it was as he said. Boom , the original trans is Gone it was up the street 5 miles for years but the guy wouldn't come off it even though it was hurt. the rear and F-41 are intact as built and all the race fuel system, line locs and other neat stuff. I have located a lot of the parts to restore it back to as raced condition. The car has 13,000 miles on it to date last being on the road in 86.

This is a wild shot in the dark, but my 68 L72 Biscayne was supposedly campaigned in Southern California in the late 60s and early 70s, but I can't seem to find any information about it. The 2nd person who raced it will talk about it but not give me any of the paperwork. I offered to fly out to LA and pay for the copying of what he does have, but he said no!! I am looking for the original purchaser to talk to him/her. I believe that he/she raced it also before the second owner did. I would also like to know the name of the car. If anybody has any memory of a "Red", paint code delete, Biscayne please let me know.
Thanks!!

Jim,
I had no luck finding the car in my list, though I have a few 427 cars built near that one. Do you have any of the papers from the Biscayne like the protecto plate? Steve

My list is of vin numbers, cowl tag info, protecto plates, buildsheets etc that I have collected over the past several years, and the SS427 registry on the side. It is all in vin order and is very helpful in determining if an engine is original to a car. I didn't realize you had the car, but could you send me the cowl tag info from it? Also, I noticed that it was built at the Wilmington, Delaware plant. If it has any of the original interior there is a good chance that there is still a buildsheet in the car. Wilmington usually put two to four in each car's seats and they listed everything from the original selling dealer to detailed descriptions of each option installed on the car. I look forward to hearing more about this car!
Steve

Hi Steve; I actually called Tommy Shalcross right after the last post, and then the the original owner. Hopefully this weekend I will get some more of the info and pictures. I have the 68 SS427 4spd car for sale as well, plus a 69 427 Caprice from Ca, black plate loaded that I will give away for 5500.00. Also in the stable are a couple of neat big cars a 1970 COPO ( paperwork inc POP) Firecheifs car with the full police package loaded right down to the 140 dash with gauges, a 1971 Bigblock Police car with COPO paperwork from the same town, and last but not least a Triple black loaded 66 BB 4spd covert with all the options and paperwork. Even Us Chevelle guys like big cars.
