Have the original CE from a red L89 chevelle ragtop. Also have 2 other CE L89s, none with original stamp pads however for chevelles just camaros. dates on CE motors are may 69,and i think one is a few months earlier than that,also have a CE 854 w 842s dated fall 69 [/ QUOTE ] Not sure I follow... is there anything on the pads of the CE L89 motors? I'm trying to find a good original motor (either an original CE stamp or a closely dated motor with previous car's VIN to put in my 05C L89 Chevelle). Thanks. |

Have 2 JJ stamped L89 camaro motors, 1 L89 stamped for 68 chevelle, a CE L89 with all may 69 dates including heads #842,[and several other CE motors,and a few others that are decked.

I was under the impression that all CE motors were generic with a casting number that worked for several applications?
How can you tell if a CE motor was for a L89 or L78? Or for a Chevelle or a Camaro (unless dealer stamped VIN)? Thanks! Rich
