I'm due for another car, I have an 04 and 02 Chevy but they were made where, in Mexico or CANADA? What is an American car made in America with American parts?

And as far as Wallyworld, it's not close to me but when I did go to one years ago didn't they have "American Made" signs on most of the products? Is it the same crap as the other box stores? Is anything made in America anymore? The mom and pop where I shop sells the same chineese crap!

and another thing , That "Jay Leno" letter is three years old and the Big Chinned Car Guy only gets credit for the last sentence!

[/ QUOTE ]

I have to agree. My Dodge pickup was built in Mexico and my wife's Honda was built in North Carolina. Which is "more American" .

At least Honda is providing good jobs for Americans.

(steps down off soapbox)

But where are the professional jobs, i.e. designers, engineers, most management, etc. at Honda located and where do the profits go from the plants here?

Yes American cars are built outside the US. Also Jap crap is built outside Japan. They think just like us. If it can be built cheaper I will go there. We started building out side the US for cheaper labor. So did they. Now here comes the rub American cars THE PROFFITS STAYS HERE!!!! The big three have donated billions of dollars in this country from Schools to zoos. SHOW ME ONE JAP AUTO COMPANY THAT HAS DONATED A CENT TO THIS COUNTRY.

Honda , toyota & nissan are all non-union labor 30% less than American car companies are paying. When your Grand kids Have to take a JOB out side the US let me know how that works out for them!!

I am afraid that the current state of the school system and the new cultural values of this country are not turning out quaulity Engineers,Scientists etc. Our education system is broken!!!!!! The focus MUST get back to the basics and get away from the "Its not your fault, No letter Gardes, Self asteem, Even the playing field crap" if we are to compete in those arenas where ever the jobs are.

Competition made us better winners by teaching us the pain of loosing.

IMO people get too bent only thinking about where CARS are from. Take a look at the tag on your shirt, the brand on your television, cell phone, digital camera, computer, etc.

I personally don't care as much about where the profits for a company goes. I care about where the JOBS are. I guess my grandkids (if I ever have any) maybe could move to Mexico and build Dodges, or Canada and build GMs.

By the way, it took me 2 seconds to find this with Google about Toyotas donations to local communities. I'm sure if I looked for 2 minutes I could find lots more. Get informed before you make statements you can't back up.

Toyota so called donation 13.4 million since 1996. That figures out to 1.1 million a year. They build 500,000 cars & trucks per year That's 2 dollars per 30,000.00 vehicle BIG WUP.!!! GM donates 61 to 68 million each year!!

Get 'em Kim!!
Back in the sixties it was hard to find a gas station that would repair foreign cars.
(Yes gas stations used to fix cars!)
Otto's was the only place I can remember that would repair a foreign car, and he only handled VW and Porsche.
God forbid you were a commie and drove a Toyota or Datsun!
Ahh - the good old days

The first of the year I set a new rule in my office. {I have been an Insurance Agent for 35 years.} I no longer will insure Jap cars. I tell people to go some where else to insure.
