Wasn't it suede textured? like a dash top? [/ QUOTE ] Ish... sort of like a coarse texture. Smooth and polished is totally wrong. No wet sanding those wheels please! ![]() Another vote for stock wheels and tires! Unless you get vintage TTD's and MT Indy Profiles... ![]() ![]()

The black painted wheels look good on a black car. But for your car I would go back to the original color.

Thanks for the offer John, The Kelsey Hayes wheels are super.
I really like the stock wheels, and will most likely run with them. I was leaning tward repainting them back to the stock color but I'm unsure if the contrast between the old paint & new wheel paint will look strange. ![]()

[ QUOTE ] I think it would look best with the correct paint also. I have not seen any painted with the paint from Classic Industries, If you go that route show us a close up photo here so we can see how they look. [/ QUOTE ] This is a never on the ground spare from a 73. That looks darn close. ![]() ![]() ![]() I used this paint on the wheels from my 70 Z and I highly recomend it. It has the corect texture as well as the color. I read that GM textured these wheels back in the 70's to emulate the look of the Tork Thrust D wheel and the texture of this paint is dead on IMO. OEM paint is almost always right on in the color, and in this case the texture as well. ![]() [/ QUOTE ] Maybe alittle off on the "flatness" but awful close.

Go to Nastyz28.com.
Lots of info on the correct paint to do these right. http://www.nastyz28.com/forum/showthread.php?t=110188 Here is the correct paint. Can on the left is for the back side of the wheels and the jack base, Can on the right is for the front side of the wheel. Despite what it says, do not clear coat if you want a correct finish. That's what I've gathered from reading the posts of people who know this kinda stuff. That is, if you want to paint them back stock. Here, this is even better. LINK Craig |
