That is also very aggrivating to me that many sellers will wait until you leave feedback about them BEFORE they leave feedback about you, even though you paid in full within the stated payment terms. Really, the whole feedback system is somewhat flawed, I think a comment section for stating how the transaction went for each party would be better. Or, as someone pointed out earlier, if the seller pays by PayPal within the allotted time, they have done their part and should receive a positive feedback rating for that transaction. Then, the pressure is on the seller to fulfill their part to ship the item to the buyer in a timely fashion and provide satisfaction after the sale.

I agree with Mr. Chevy and others. Both my negative feedbacks came after I immediately paid and the item arrived damaged in a undamaged container or was not the item I bought and the sellers never resolved it. Then after doing nothing wrong I got negative feedback. The system is flawed but the old system where the seller extorts a positive or no feedback after the buyer pays is terrible.

I contacted ebay regarding this whole new feedback program
as I've had a similar issue where a seller left me negative
feedback after I left him neutral feedback. I bought a set
of NOS 12-bolt gears for my '69 Camaro and paid immediately
via Paypal. When the gear set arrived, the gears were
simply sandwiched between newspaper and lying loose in the
box. Talk about pi$$ed-off!

I'm wondering what the impetus is for this change on ebay's
part. It doesn't make much sense. Like I mentioned before,
it's smells of PC........

Nuch

I would assume the change is due to the types of situations some have described where sellers did not fulfill their end of the bargain or misrepresented things and then retaliated against a buyer who followed through on their end but had real issues.

The down side is that there are buyers out their who do not read, look, understand, pay for, etc. who also deserve to be recognized for their stellar performances.

Maybe the way to handle it is to have negative feedback not show for a certain period of time to allow both parties to try to work things out. Both parties would be notified of the negative by a PM type of system. If the issues were not resolved then you could follow the established paths for handling disputes through ebay. Maybe this would take some of the knee jerk retaliation away.

I think Ebay looks at business like most auction people do they provide the venue and thats it. After that they want nothing to do with the transaction. Their sales must be going down due to lack of buyer confidence combined with the threat that one would be labeled a dead beat unfairly.

???????????????????????????

[/ QUOTE ] Ive received a Neg feedback 5 times so far from people that DIDNT pay for the items they won and wouldnt respond to any emails as to why. Not only did one cost me a 50K sale on a 54 corvette,he was able to leave retalitory feedback with no merit. At that time ebay said theyd remove the feedback if it was unwarranted and if i paid them 20.00 "administration fee". Call it feedback extortion if you like.I guess ebays stance is that they will do whatever the buyers want to ensure thier commissions, the flip side is the swap meets are starting to fill up with parts again because sellers dont want to deal with the BS.

I currently have 4 neutrals and 0 negatives. I don't like the fact that I cannot leave negative or even neutral feedback for deadbeat bidders. I have had 4 in the past 2 months. Ebay does not offer SELLER protection, no matter what they tell you. They will always side with the buyer if they paid on time. Ebay believes every "not as described" claim put against a seller regardless if you have "no returns" in your description or not. The entire system is flawed.

EXACTLY! I sold a carb that I had bought on eBay about a year prior, described it as accurately as possible, stated it would need a rebuild, posted multiple pictures, stated "item sold as is"...the guy gets the carb sends me a list of issues with it and that he's upset it will need parts to be rebuilt and function properly (what parts I still don't know other than a rebuild kit)...I ask him to send pics of these issues...never get pics...eBay/Paypal decides in his favor and they refund him his money...I ask them twice for an explanation of why they reversed the transaction and never got a reply from them...I get the carb back and don't find any of these issues he whined about...GREAT service ...eBay = LAST RESORT!...unless it's from some I know or delt with before...where's that "eBay SUCKS" smiley?...
