How about the dirt, mud and rocks that will make their way into between the webs and cause out of balance situations? Couldn't a thin rubber sidewall be there to make the tire look more traditional and keep this from happening?

No more raised white letters or redlines. The tire manufacturers probably hate the thought that there won't be any way to showcase the brand name on the sidewall, which will no longer exist.

LOL - you think those tires are made for off road? They have worked over 10 years on this design. I am sure they have thought about your what ifs.

It's supposed to last at least 80,000 miles. No thin rubber sidewall cover will last anywheres near that long. Plus you want the tire to evacuate anything that gets caught in the webs quickly and easily.

Keep in mind that the Michelin’s Unique Puncture-proof Tire System (UPTIS) is the first of it's kind. IMO, it's a form follows function with no real aesthetics.

Look at the evolution of the automobile tire. They were white! The part of the car that touched the ground and it was white? How stupid was that?

Really don’t know why you are defending an absolute ugly tire design so much. I guess you have some skin in the game. Bottom line they are ugly as sin snd a rubber sidewall would indeed last 80k miles. There is no wear on the sidewalls

No skin in the game. My opinion just differs from yours. I think they are very futuristic looking. No reason for you to get all bent out of shape just because I don't agree with you.
