No more raised white letters or redlines. The tire manufacturers probably hate the thought that there won't be any way to showcase the brand name on the sidewall, which will no longer exist.

It's supposed to last at least 80,000 miles. No thin rubber sidewall cover will last anywheres near that long. Plus you want the tire to evacuate anything that gets caught in the webs quickly and easily. |

Keep in mind that the Michelin’s Unique Puncture-proof Tire System (UPTIS) is the first of it's kind. IMO, it's a form follows function with no real aesthetics.
Look at the evolution of the automobile tire. They were white! The part of the car that touched the ground and it was white? How stupid was that? ![]() |
