Zedder, looking at some of the prices of the other cars there, seems it did very well.
The 1969 302 Boss Cougar was less, 1969 Hurst Olds was less, 1970 44 6 pac Challenger, 1971 454 Vette was less. So it was a premium over a bunch of cars. So in comparison with what was there, it did VERY WELL if you ask me (from what I seen online). I think once the owners see the comparables I think they will understand it did better then many others there.

I agree,I talked to the owner of the Panther yesterday and he told me he was happy to get that price.
It went way past their Reserve, which was always in place to protect him. The family is very happy. |

Mark, I feel your pain. Just hate when you speak to someone about there stuff and make an educated and honest offer, and they think it's worth more. Then sell it for less to some nobody?
But "Barrett/Jackson-idis" is still a strong issue in this hobby that doesn't help us. I made a post in the general forum about this Mecum auction. there were a number of cars I "could" have bid on. Not sure if there better on the internet then real life, but seems like a bunch of well bought cars. As your aware, most of our local stuff in Ontario usually requires some rust work, and maybe these do too. But seems like there were some good buys to me, AND there posted with buyers premium. Posted about a '68 Mustang Coupe 390 with AC and a '74 Z28 with AC. But also WOULD HAVE BEEN on the '79 LIL RED EXPRESS that with buyers premium was 20,900. John

The Black Panthers are very attractive cars but the vast majority were 327 2bbls. In the big picture, I agree with EZ that the car did very well to get that dollar figure.
