Here 'ya go . . . . . about 10 years ago I had an itch for a 1968-72 chrome bumper Corvette and went to look at a '70 that was advertised as simply "1970 Chevrolet Corvette 350 4-Speed $7500". Well, I get to the alley garage where the car is and I immediately notice the big LT-1 hood on this Steel Cities Grey car. I think that's nice and as I'm walking up I see the big Holley and factory aluminum hi-rise intake manifold! I stick my head in the window and there IT is on the console, 350-370 HP. Wow . . . . this car is an LT-1 I think to myself and to the fellow that had owned it for the last 20 years it was simply a "350 Corvette" that didn't even have air conditioning! Incredibly, I passed on the car because of a severe case of frame rot right in front of the back wheels. I mean the car actually looked really good but I would have been afraid to even put a hydraulic jack underneath it because it was so bad. Anyway, I turned a buddy on to it and he was the one who discovered the special brake calibers on it and the ZR-1 heritage. Some people call these cars "the small block L-88's" and I kinda missed out on this one slipping right by under my nose.
