Bergy you might recall some of these people, as I recall several were at other GM plants also.

Curry Chevrolet is no more than 5 minute from me. I didn't realize they did anything special except sell basic cars.

That dealer just didn't know what they were doing. I personally know of two factory black 73 Z28's. They were indeed a special order, but it could be done.

Also, my friend Rick had ordered a new black 70 Camaro SS396, L78....the dealer kept giving him the runaround saying they were having a hard time getting it. He finally gave up and bought a FG 70 Nova SS396 L78 off the lot. Never did find out if it was the L78 or the black paint that was the holdup on the Camaro. The same Rick is one of the two people I knew who ordered - and received - the black 73 Z28's.

It belongs to an sYc member. I'll have to look at the paperwork to check. </div></div>

Exactly Bill. A good friend of mine had a Special Order all Black '73 Z. I contacted Phil (70 COPO) about that car a couple of years ago.

I have a pic of his '73 &amp; my Chevelle sitting together in my back yard. ( somewhere.)

Hassett had a Norwood build special order trim tag -- black with white stripe full bumper 73 z28 in his collection years ago. Car was local from day one, automatic with black vinyl seats. car went to Dayton Ohio with 20k on the odometer around 1992

This is the STORY on My BLACK Z-28 1973
My Friend ordered it New along with a New Black &amp; White Vega GT.
It was Extra Cost (PRIMER)it took forever to come in after it was built. He was told it went to Lordstown Vega Plant to be painted. He called me when it finally came in to look at it. The paint was Terrible, bad paint with white overspray everywhere. The dealer tried to color coat it and buff it out. It still looked bad. He REFUSED it. He agreed to pay half of the price to repaint it and Chevy paid for part of it. It then was a good job. He sold it to me when he was getting married. One of the cars I SHOULD have KEPT!!

----Bill,,,I came to that realization several years ago, but thought it was interesting. I just wonder how many people didnt get the car they wanted because of dealer laziness or stupidity.......Bill S

Sounds like the saga I went through trying to buy a 87 Buick Regal turbo car. I had all the correct option codes to get a non descript Regal with chrome trim instead of the normal blacked out, but couldn't get a dealer to special order it. Lazy sob's wanted to push anything else off on me instead of doing a special order. Needless to say, I never got that sleeper car.
