Not that it helps prove anything - the sequence number of my car is 1826** with body number 04A/07133 and was built right after and right before (2) documented LS6 Van Nuys cars.

This car still has what appears to be the original boxed trailing arms and has the 7/8" rear sway bar. What cars was the option available on?

And if the hood is original to the car - it is a functional cowl induction with factory hood pin holes. Could a Malibu have that option? Could you special order a paint code on a Malibu?

All 70 SS396 350/375 hp and all SS454 390/450 hp cars got the boxed ares and sway bar.And I believe Big Block Malibu also.

The heavy duty F41 suspension that was included in the Chevelle Super Sport pckge.,was also possible as a separate option on any Big Block equipped Malibu......as in the LS-3 330Hp/402cid.

You could specify a non std.paint color & pay extra to special order it on nearly every vehicle GM model.

Working Cowl Ind. hoods were specific to Super Sports only.
That hood & that rearend are your best clues right now.
Hopefully dropping that tank will uncover an LS-6 buildsheet.

I am going to pull the tank on the car Monday. Hoping this reveals what I am looking for.

As well, I spoke to the person I bought the car from. He is a 70 year old man from Nevada. He got the car from "Starving Marvin" a small town local renowned car painter. Story has it that the wealthy owner took the car apart and dropped it off at the body shop "at least 10 years ago but could be 20" and didnt come back for it. He is going to pay Marvin a visit to see what information he can get on the car and to see what he knows about it and possibly the owners name that dropped the car off. He told me that the tank has never been out of the car since it was dropped off at the body shop.

If the previous owner cannot get me any information and there is no build sheet on top of the tank I am going to try and do an owner history on the car. It is most likely a local car that could have a limited number of owners.

This single wire that is coming through the grommet just to the right of the throttle cable location on firewall - is that a tach lead or is it the ZL2 harness like the Kansas City cars had? Where would the tach lead be drilled on a Van Nuys built car or was it part of the harness?

Thank you...I appreciate everyone's help with this car. The moment of truth may come as soon as we get that tank dropped. I have invested a large amount of time in studying Chevelles and LS6 cars specifically. If it turns out not to be I will come away knowing alot more about these cars than I ever did.

Is there quite possibly someone on this forum that may have remembered this car from back in the day? I purchased it from Wadsworth, NV and it was believed to be a local car.

As scheduled we dropped the tank on this car today and as miracles would have it the buildsheet was there.

I am sure everyone wants to know what it revealed - drum roll please.......

ANOTHER LS6 HAS BEEN FOUND ! !!! !!

I am processing all the pictures of the buildsheet now and will upload shortly.

My question is - how can I extract the buildsheet correctly without destroying it? It is very dry and frail but perfectly legible.
